I'll start with the positives. Great cast. Loved the chemistry between Clinton and Bridges. Will Turner is a gentleman and an excellent addition to the cast. The technical aspects of the film were well done. Costumes, sets, etc. All in all this is an exciting film and should please any fans of the original.

This film is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I can't think of a single reason to watch it. It is so raw and real. The acting is incredible. The directing is superb. The story is so believable. This is a must see. I can't recommend this film enough. You will not be disappointed. This film has the power to change the world. It is a story of hope and love. The movie is so real, it is almost impossible not to be moved. I have not seen a movie this moving since I first saw The Godfather. I can't think of a single thing I would change about this film. It is perfect. It is a must see.

This is an exceptional film about violence in inner-city New York City. There are characters in this movie that you feel are from different classes. The violence is through the eyes of a black man, a Latino man, and a white man, and that creates a very rich psychological experience. It is not easy to portray a group of people who seem to have very few similarities. This is an exceptional movie that has an extraordinary ending. The director brings to light the violence of a culture in which there are no opportunities for success in spite of their background and the government itself. It is clear that this is a powerful film that reflects on the moral limitations of a society. It is important to acknowledge the violence in the film. I recommend this film to anyone who likes deep characters with complex motives and that is does not rely on a soundtrack.

I haven't read "Seven Days in May" but I have had this film in my mind as one of my all time favorites. After seeing this film, I came out with the idea of seeing all of the Seven Days in May films. I have a pretty strong emotional attachment to every one of them. This film is wonderful. This film is a testament to what the people of black New York City were able to do to live better lives. When I read the liner notes I was so moved that I was relieved that the director was a man, instead of a woman. This film is a wonderful film and the audience should definitely see it.

Like other films written by Diane Schuler, "The Crown of Cancer" is a gentle tale about a group of cancer patients in an Italian apartment. Although a dramatic narrative is essential to the story, there is a quite heavy filmic treatment in here. If not for the high quality performances, the tone would be exaggerated. However, the story is quite effective as the role of the actors are quite convincing. I found the story as well as the performances to be quite compelling. The ending, I can hardly describe but it was very uplifting and emotional. The way it ends can be called a surprise and almost makes you change your mind about your love with someone. This is a definite must see.

My husband wanted to see it and took me. I'd heard of it but not seen it. In the end, I don't know what I did to justify the $. In fact, I don't know what I did. So why is it "America's Sweethearts"? The way the film starts, it seems like a heavy set piece; it would have been great to have some deeper content. Maybe the difficulty of the subjects were a distraction. But there's some truth in what the film was trying to show, at least on the surface. Maybe we should have had more depth about it. But overall it was a good film and I was pleased with it. I'm surprised that it won many awards.

This movie doesn't do justice to Harlem. It was nice to see a real portrayal of a real person, playing a real role, with some awesome music. The movie only goes on so long, and the message is told to the audience rather than being explained to them. A good movie. I would like to know how the movie was rated so low.

I had heard a lot about this movie from friends. I thought I was going to hate it, but I thought it was good, especially because of the actors who played the characters in the film. I did not see a lot of special effects or action in it. I think it was a decent movie to watch on a rainy day.

As an aspiring writer, I was curious to see this film. Sadly, that curiosity was completely squelched with some tasteless and dated jokes and sketches that were virtually devoid of humor. At the time, it was the "Must See" film for all aspiring writers out there and it really should be. If you are a 'net writer, like myself, I highly recommend seeing this film and taking notes as you would one of the real life historical events of George Washington's birthday. A favorite quote by George Washington in real life is, "He who has the power, and whose dastardly will he acts according to it is not only the greatest Commander of the Armies of the world, but he who has the most to lose by them" and it's a quote that can be summarized by this film as follows: "Never write an article that you or I could relate to in our lifetimes."

Crown Heights is one of the best films I have ever seen. I have seen many movies and have seen some good ones, but this one is a good one. I don't know what the people who rate this movie so low are talking about. This is a great movie with a great story. The acting was good. The characters were realistic. The movie was well directed. The music was good. The story was good. I would recommend this movie to anyone. I think this is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is a great story, well told and well acted.

I'm not sure what all the bad reviews are about. I just watched it with my sister. I thought it was great. I'm not a huge fan of rap, but it was interesting to see how the characters were portrayed. I have never seen a movie about gangs and gang culture that had such a strong storyline and was so well done. I also thought the acting was great. I didn't see any one that didn't have a good time. I also thought the acting was really good. I thought the story was really good. I also thought the ending was really good. I don't think I will ever be able to get enough of this movie. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone.

Another Netflix character I'll be checking out soon is "American Mixtape." When I first saw the name this movie popped up on my phone and quickly got to wondering who I might be able to see it with. Well, I had an initial feeling that it might be alright to watch this with a friend of mine but it was clear they would both hate it. However, at a later point, my friend told me he didn't hate it either and would probably give it a second look. And when it was my turn to check it out I was surprised at how great it was. Just like with "American Pie 2" and "Breaking and Entering" I'm going to give "Crown Heights" a fair chance because of the movie that was produced and directed by Denzel Washington. The movie is about a New York City police officer who goes to the Bronx to see a judge for a case that he can't seem to get through. The first scene that the film is set is in New York with scenes of the Bronx, where the officer grew up, and shows his friends and family how the streets are. It's quite simple, the streets are not portrayed as dirty, and the people in the Bronx look as if they're not going to be snoopy anymore. The acting is really good, the comedy is quite well delivered by both Washington and a young actress named Allison Janney. As for the movie itself, it's quite interesting to see what a different New York City is like with people who seem to be poor and not feel like they belong, but they will still find a way to move forward. There are a few problems with the movie: For starters, there are a few scenes that are not very well thought out and they seem out of place. For example, the policemen, the judge, the former criminal, and Denzel Washington's character all have a different accent. Some might argue that this is a necessary move, but I just think it is a minor problem that shouldn't detract too much from the movie. I also wish that the movie could have been a little longer, but I understand that the movie is too short and was trying to be a quick story. For my final critique, I would say that it is entertaining but not the best movie that I have seen this year. However, I will say that "Crown Heights" is very well done and I do recommend it for anyone who has seen "American Pie 2" or "Breaking and Entering" and the like.

Matthew M. Spence, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep and Diane Lane are all in one of their best performances. I have seen them together in many movies and I think I know how they acted in this film. I have seen it years ago but I haven't been able to find it on cable yet so I thought I'd watch it again. Diane Lane as a mother who thinks she is afraid to be in the street and doesn't know what's going on was so good. The scene where she thinks about getting a dog or a puppy was brilliant. This was a great drama and really good for families, movie lovers and TV lovers. Its not perfect but it is very well done and I think that is why it has received so much success. I recommend it to everyone. It has everything you could ask for from a drama and action.

This is a very good movie. Although there are a few flaws, it is nevertheless a very good movie. The director did an excellent job. It is about a young female of African descent who seeks to stop the violence in her neighborhood after witnessing her daughter being killed by two thugs. The young lady is embarrassed by the violence but her son and her aunt insist she does not do nothing. She is beaten by the thugs. The aunt of the nephew tries to persuade her to join the organization and this makes the aunt worried. She eventually does join the organization but her brother still believes that violence is the only way to settle conflicts. I think this is very important film to discuss with young people. Very important movie, which shows that it is very important to develop a true relationship with those you care about.

Four women and a man, all in their 20s and 30s, all enter a shop owned by a man who used to work as a delivery boy for a neighborhood tabloid newspaper. There they discover that he never gave them the money they owed, and this leads to them meeting him on the street in their 20s and 30s. They want revenge and decide to steal his car so he can never claim his paycheck again. The last segment of the film was unnecessary to the rest of the story, it makes little sense, and just made the film more confusing. The story would have been more interesting if this segment was left out. The movie's weak points are the cinematography and the plot. The cinematography was good, and it was a breath of fresh air to watch this as the camera were positioned perfectly. It was a testament to the director and the camera team. However, that is just a reflection of the film's direction, rather than the actual cinematography. The script was good, but the film could have done without some of the characters that were in it. There were way too many as well, like Vicky (Rebecca Hall) being a stranger to the protagonist, and for the longest time, it was hard to tell her character apart from the rest of the group. This happens throughout the film. There were some parts that did not make sense, such as how they drove to the parking lot to meet the other women and also the scene where the women are going to get the car from the husband. Again, the script did not let the characters in the film follow along with the story. The characters in the film have many different motives for doing what they are doing, and are still one dimensional characters. This is a good film for young women, but will probably be hard to take for men, and it is a good film to see for the general audience. I liked it but it is not for everyone. Just a decent film overall.

Henry James' The Shadow over Innsmouth, with its inner turmoil and conflicts of ideals, captures in a very vivid way the underbelly of the 19th century and the seemingly minor conflicts which we as the audience are caught up in. A. M. Homes' Ghosts of Appalachia shows us a wasteland, a lost country, in which millions of people live without a home, with few prospects for their children and no real political will to make the transition to a civilized life. John Sayles' Crown Heights does the same thing with a stark look at the face of Appalachia, a region with little choice but to fight its natural limitations, which the majority of the people can not or will not do. The movie is about Tom DeYoung's rise from poverty to the upper ranks of town government in this isolated community and the conflict of the people living there. It's the story of a man, as well as of his struggle to figure out who he is as a person, a man of vision and the necessity of honesty and integrity in his relationships with his fellow townspeople and his own inner demons. In the end he is forced to confront his own past and his inability to cope with his own guilt and what he is doing in the town. His biggest sin is that he has to conceal his true feelings and only allows his family to see his wounds, thus stopping him from forgiving himself for what he has done. So he finally faces his past and must do the right thing by himself. There is a real sense of hope in the story, a sense of innocence lost and a determination to pull himself out of the cycle of crime and misery.

I wasn't expecting much with this movie, but it was great. It was my first time seeing such an amazing movie. I didn't think it would be good but it was. I saw it with a friend, and she was the same as me. We both couldn't stop talking about it, and we started doing research about it. After you see it, you'll feel like you know it. Great plot, great acting, amazing soundtrack, great music. I recommend you to watch it.

The story of the Tuckers is so true to life, it was heartbreaking to see the emotions they were going through. Their lives were completely ruined by a crime. It was an absolute tragedy. They were so beautiful and they were so innocent. I would like to thank all of the people who made this film possible. I just want to say that if you want to see a great film about a family, please go see it. It will be a life-changing experience. I also want to say that it is a shame that this film is not available on DVD.

I can't agree with the other reviewer who calls this a great movie. I thought it was just good and I would buy it on DVD. I just don't see it as a great movie. It was more of a drama. I know it's not supposed to be "realistic" but I didn't really see how realistic it was. I think they put this movie together, like they read the book and said "okay, lets do this." It was never really believable for me. I'm sure if they read the book first they would've been completely different stories.

I can't believe a movie gets such bad reviews for being so out of the box, a movie that I could have never imagined. I hope that everyone can see what an amazing job director Michael Haneke has done in making this film. His use of color and camera angles were exceptional and his work at creating a post-Raphaelite in the film. I mean the films looks just like a major art house. This film has a great cast, especially Barkhad Abdi. This film also has great acting and amazing music. I must admit that I am a bit more into a non-western type of movie (read Tom McCarthy's Wild) but this movie fits that description too. The story tells of a Nigerian immigrant who comes to New York looking for his family. He realizes that he's never really been able to reach his family. The story is done brilliantly, as the director never shows us what's going on, we just see the journey he's taking. To me it just seemed like a story about a young man coming to America for a better life, a young man wanting to find his family. The casting was also brilliant. I think all actors did great in their roles. Overall I think this film was one of the best that I have seen in awhile. I recommend this movie to everyone.

You'll probably remember this movie as the family outing that thrusted Brown into superstardom and led to a career as a prolific screenwriter/director/producer. The story concerns the day-to-day problems of an Irish family that moves to America and finds itself embroiled in the crimes that one will expect in a movie about the Irish. It tells the story of the alleged war between Irish-American and Irish-Catholics and the trials that ensued, to the breaking point of the guilty family. It's a good story with a good cast, particularly David Strathairn as Joseph D'Amato, who despite his arrogance and self-praise hides a strong sense of duty. It will make you laugh, will make you cry, will make you think, and probably will make you feel some sympathy for the Irish - all things that the film did well, and about which I have little knowledge. There are some amusing moments in the film that carry the story and bring some humor to the proceedings. It's a good film, and it was worth seeing. The cast did a fine job of portraying the characters, and their performances are what makes this a good film. 8/10

I didn't expect too much when I went to watch this film. I knew that it was set in the Bronx, that there were some pretty good performances, and that the film was directed by acclaimed (and incredibly prolific) director Darren Aronofsky. I don't regret the experience. What I did regret was how long it went on. The film doesn't tell a whole lot, just enough to give the audience enough information to decide whether they want to watch it. However, the movie tells so much that it feels like it could have lasted forever. The story begins with a powerful scene: the lawyer who's convicted of a murder is released from prison to be re-arrested on the charge of her sister's murder. We are then introduced to the prosecutor, played by Hugh Jackman, who plays with the case. The story has a number of interesting characters, like Julianne Hough (who played Queen Latifah in The Wire), an attorney and former partner of Crown Heights defense attorney Clive Owen (The Departed), and Kevin Pollak (The King Of Queens), a school-bus driver and father of one of the people who gets released from prison. In between all of this, there are a number of subplots, including some of the characters who get released, as well as scenes that relate to the people who get released. The director did a great job of showing the drama without ever falling into the trap of excessive dialogue or scenes. He did everything he could to create a sense of place without feeling that he was overdoing it. And while his film was filled with dramatic scenes and intense emotions, I never felt like I was in the situation of the characters. There are times when he would slip up a little, and I felt like I was watching a film from the 1980s, but overall, the emotion and reality of the film was able to stand out. It was nothing too impressive or spectacular, but it was still very effective. The action is pretty intense, and I think it's one of the biggest positives of the film. I had some issues with it initially, but I thought he did a good job with it. I was surprised by the level of detail, and the amount of time that was spent in this. I'm glad he shot some of the scenes in a way that he wouldn't have been able to afford or arrange. There are a few instances where he was able to employ his usual methods, but it was nice to see that. There are a few instances where the editing gets a little sloppy and unclear, but it's pretty easy to focus on the big shots. The ending is very strong. This is one of my favorite films of 2013. It's been a while since I've seen a film that has really left me shocked and thinking, "Wow, I've never seen anything like that before". I'm very impressed. Highly recommended. 8/10.

This is a quiet film which does not outstay its welcome. During the filming process, there were numerous special effects shots made. It has a slow pace which is appropriate. There is no score to be heard during the film, which is a plus. Although I believe the scene with the bag was done for practical reasons, I am not certain if it is proper filmmaking to the extent of the need to adjust the shot, but the camera work was accomplished. The actors all had good dialogue, but did not have much to say to each other. The romance between the two main characters is very tender, but some of the conversations do drag. There is a moment when it feels as if the film should have ended rather than being kept running. However, this is an extremely simple film that is worth a watch.

Imagine that a young boy and his father come across an unlicensed dancing school run by a bunch of naysayers. Eventually, the pair fall in love and decide to become part of the group. Although the film might take a certain look at how society's condemnation of homosexuality changes lives of those who are ostracised, the plot here is never straying far from the lead pair. Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love. Boy leaves the group to return to his homeland. Boy does nothing. Boy gets young girls. Boy gets older girls. Boy gets exiled. Boy continues to dance in front of an audience. Boy does nothing but smile at his camera. But I think this film more accurately depicts a person who is turned into something more than they initially thought it would be. The film is about connection and love, about forgetting oneself for the sake of another and about true love, that is unconditional. The film might seem strange at first, but it never loses that joyful quality. With a story that is so detailed that I found myself re-watching parts because they worked so well together, The Next Best Thing deserves every chance it gets.

Deborah photo

This movie was very good. I thought the whole story was great. I was really surprised how well the movie showed how a city gets over that is still dominated by the rich families, and how it has changed over the years. I think this movie was very well done and should be shown in high school classes to get some real life experience.

This is a true story about a young black man who was wrongly convicted of the rape and murder of his girlfriend. The film is based on a true story, and focuses on his struggles as he tries to get his life back on track. He gets help from a lawyer, a police officer, and a prison chaplain. The film is very well made. The acting is good, and the camera work is great. The soundtrack is great, and is an excellent soundtrack. This film is very well done, and I highly recommend it.

This was the first movie I saw with this director, and the music made it really personal. The music was great, it fit the movie perfectly. You couldn't take your eyes off the screen. It is a great story, it's just you have to look past the costumes and get past the costumes to get to the real story.

In a way, I had a great time watching this movie. It was a refreshing change from all the trash movies I have seen lately. I actually found it a little hard to watch at times, but I enjoyed the acting and the storyline. It was a great movie, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good movie.

I just finished watching this film and I was very impressed. The cast is amazing, the story is very touching and the music is great. I loved this film and it made me cry. I loved it so much I cried at the end. I loved it so much I will buy the DVD. I would recommend this film to anyone. It is very good.
