In the northern Chinese city of Manzhouli, they say there is an elephant that simply sits and ignores the world. Manzhouli becomes an obsession for the protagonists of this film, a longed-for escape from the downward spiral in which they find themselves. Among them is schoolboy Bu, on the run after pushing Shuai down the stairs, who was bullying him previously. Bu's classmate Ling has run away from her mother and fallen for the charms of her teacher. Shuai's older brother Cheng feels responsible for the suicide of a friend. And finally, along with many other characters whose fates are inextricably bound together, there's Mr. Wang, a sprightly pensioner whose son wants to offload him onto a home. In virtuoso visual compositions, the film tells the story of one single suspenseful day from dawn to dusk, when the train to Manzhouli is set to depart.

In my view, it's a story that needs to be told in as many ways as possible, as if it was only in one's mind. It's about a woman who has given up on all kinds of happiness, and now feels that no matter what she does, she'll never find true happiness. She stays in a tiny apartment where she has to pay for her own heating and water, and tries to find the truth of her life. The actress who plays the main character is exquisite, and her portrayal of her makes the viewer relate to her, especially when the other characters also seem to be living in a fairy tale world. The actor who plays the taxi driver has a very challenging role, and his performance is very credible. It's a movie that will stay with you for a long time.

The extremely underrated and unheard of film by Chen Kaige is simply a masterpiece. Every facet of this film is a visual treat, with Chen's masterful direction and superb editing. This film isn't just about murder or revenge. It's about truth and is so true to life. Chen is such a talented director and one can only hope that he will continue to make films that are more than just the average type. A true masterpiece.

Xiaolong Liu's debut feature film, "Miao Yuan" ("White Bird") chronicles the struggles of a vulnerable (or self-aware) 11 year old girl, daughter of a military wife, and her aunt, both of whom are imprisoned in a wretched hut during a brutal riot. The aunt commits suicide and is eventually released, but the girl is left behind in the middle of the night. She is forced to run and hide, until she is found and rescued by a community of teenage orphaned refugees who happen to have some tents and food. But the boy is traumatized, and finds himself unable to cope with life and culture. In a flash forward, we are told how the boy was given up by his father and taken in by the orphans. He learns the ways of life and formulates a complex dialect in which he speaks only when it is necessary to express his emotions. He leaves the tent, but finds that the community of orphans is also left to fend for themselves. The leader of the camp, played by Gong Li, becomes his mentor and gives him some sense of community and identity. However, the boy remains unsure of himself, but must fight to maintain his independence and survival. As the film unfolds, we learn that there are two sides to this story. There are those who would want the boy to be accepted and included, and there are those who would want him to leave, and even then, some who would attempt to sabotage his transition. The film is very intense, but the underlying message is more complex. The main point is that people and cultures are complicated and thus, don't fit neatly into one particular view. It's interesting to note that this is the second time I have seen Gong Li on the big screen (the first time being "Heart" from 2008). She is stunning in both roles. I highly recommend the film to those who are interested in Chinese culture or have some interest in gender or social change.

Don't listen to the bad reviews. The movie is great. It makes you think and feel that you have to be a lot more sensitive in the way you are expressing your thoughts. The acting is perfect. You will feel the impact of what is being said. The dialogues are crisp and realistic. You will be amazed at how good it is. The mood is upbeat, it makes you feel good. It makes you feel alive and realistic. If you have time, watch it. I really recommend it.

Like many other people I find it interesting to hear that the film is being compared to others of its kind. I was happy to find a film of such a high caliber that has the capability to get into the mind of a 13 year old boy and understand his life and the way his father and brothers see him. And I'm surprised that so many people didn't like this film. The character and the atmosphere of the film are stunning. I found it interesting how they placed the film from a computer generated video to what it might have been like had this been the first time a film was done this way. How the way a film is filmed and the overall mood and mood of the film has been designed and animated. The acting in this film is just amazing. I can't believe that some people would give this film a negative rating. I really recommend this film. It's one of those rare films that just makes you feel good and it's also one of those films that will make you think about how you might be treated if you weren't there.

This is the best movie I have ever seen, in a long time. Maybe it's because I am a big fan of long movies, I didn't find it boring at all. I just didn't find it slow, boring, or boring in a good way. I know that there is a reason for this, and I will not tell it, but it is a good reason. The actors, actresses, and scriptwriters did an outstanding job. This is not only a movie about art, but it is a movie about friendship and love. The movie is very well shot, has great music, and is a very fast moving movie. I think everyone should see this movie. It is absolutely one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time.

I liked this movie a lot. It's not really about action or any of that. It's about the human spirit. And the two main characters of this movie were great. It's about a mother and a daughter, the sister and the brother. I liked the brother more than the mother. I also thought the sister was also great. I also thought she was the most beautiful girl. It was the mother's love for her brother that made her turn a little crazy. It's the story of the two sisters that took the girl away from her brother. The brother was too much of a bad guy. And the mother, although she was a great lady, was too much of a strong woman. It's also a story about two people who love each other a lot and are determined to make the best of their lives. It's really sad, but a good movie.

I have read many reviews of this movie and all of them have mentioned that it is one of the most depressing movies ever. I don't agree. I love movies with lots of gore and darkness and this movie has it. I've seen all of the Ichi the killer movies and this is the best. This is the best "puberty" movie ever made. If you want to see a good movie with lots of scary and gore, see "Mamma Mia", not this. I recommend "Crazy Heart", the better Japanese movie.

I just finished watching this movie. I was pretty anxious about it, since I had heard good things about it. I was glad to hear it was very good. The acting was amazing. Every character was believable and at least acted like they had a soul. The cinematography was very well done and the colors in the scenes were so real. It was very cool. The characters were complex and the acting was amazing. There was so much depth to the characters and the relationships between the characters. The movie had many great scenes. I just can't believe that it was released in the U.S. This movie has such a deep impact on people. This is a movie that is worth seeing in theatres. It is a must see. It has a very real and touching ending and it shows that you don't need to be rich or famous to have a successful life. If you enjoy a story about a simple Chinese peasant boy and the great city of Beijing, then this is a movie you should see.

I just finished watching this movie and I am still thinking about it. The story and the storyline is fantastic. The characters are amazing and you can feel a sense of joy and happiness in the story. This movie has a little bit of everything you want to see in a movie: romance, adventure, love, and violence. The cast is perfect for the movie. No matter if it is Mia or Hana, they have the perfect balance of looks and acting. If you don't see Mia in the movie you have to see her in the DVD version. This movie is not like any other "Asian movies". It has a style and a story that most movies don't have. I also liked the soundtrack of the movie. It's very upbeat and gives the atmosphere that the story is in a bad way. If you are a movie lover, you should see this movie.

While all previous films from the new generation of Chinese directors have been a step down from the previous three or four, this film takes the last step of perfection in terms of acting, directing and story. As it stands, this film is the ultimate example of Chinese cinema and the only film to make me feel like I was watching a documentary. While the film was made in 2004, it's still an enjoyable movie to watch if you are interested in Chinese cinema, even if you haven't seen the previous movies.

I love this movie. It's a great story about the importance of not losing hope. It is very moving. It is an amazing performance by Jeremy Irons, a great actor who doesn't give a bad performance. This movie is a must see. A movie that will touch your heart. I think this movie deserves a very high rating. A must watch.

This movie had the best score I've ever heard. I've never heard a better music score. This is the best movie I've ever seen. The direction was incredible. I've never seen a better animated film. The story is amazing, there are many plot twists that you don't see coming. The humor was outstanding. The voice acting is wonderful. I have not seen any other movies with this kind of voice acting. I have not seen any other movie like this. I can't wait to see this movie again and again. It's a movie you can't just not see, it will make you laugh so hard that you might cry, that's how good this movie is. In conclusion, this is one of the best movie ever. It will leave you with such feelings.

This is one of the best films ever made about China. I'm going to write a bit of a review now. I've watched it a few times already and I'm so happy that I finally got the opportunity to watch it. This movie is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I feel that it's a masterpiece. I really hope that China will make movies like this in the future. I also don't understand why this film was banned in China. I think it's a great movie. The Chinese director can really do things with the screen. Every time he did a scene, I felt the same way as I would when watching a Japanese film. This film is really something that's worth to watch and it deserves a lot of respect. If you like Asian movies, this is a must-watch. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I did.

This film is an excellent film that was made in China. The people in this film are doing the same things as they were doing 100 years ago. The film itself is great. The best scenes are with one actor and one actress. I think that these are the best scenes ever. These scenes show the dedication that these people are going to do for the country. The actress who is in this film is Zhang Ziyi. I don't know why she is not considered to be a famous actress. She is one of the greatest actress ever. I just wish that I could meet her. Her performance in this film is outstanding. She is the best actress ever. There is nothing in this film that she has not done before. The best performance of hers is in the film entitled "Love is Wealth". She is also good in the film "Passing Time". This film is my favorite film ever. I am a very good person and I like to watch films. I like to watch different films and different directors. I have never seen this film before. I just like to watch this film. I will rate this film 10/10.

Farewell My Concubine. She was beautiful, but it was all true, as one would expect from such a talented writer and director. The sad part is, the quality of film she produced may have been the same. The irony of how the same person could make so much in so little time is evident. I am very much moved by her work and can only hope she continues to make films for me. If this is not the case, I will not be able to take her film as seriously as she did. Perhaps her legacy will inspire others to continue making art. One thing I can say, there are more people who would like to see this film than there are who have seen it, and there are a lot of them. It is an absolute shame the film has such a poor response. I am hopeful the films of Mia Zhang and Jingling Chen, and the fantastic new films of Richard Norton and Shan Yu will improve their reception. Thank you, Mia Zhang.

The Last Son of Wu, or The last Son of Wang Lung was released in 1979, and is not a strictly 'PG' movie. In fact, it has a very limited plot which takes place in modern times. It is not a typical Kung-Fu movie, but does have the same theme as other Kung-Fu movies such as Han-i: Fist of the Dragon, or Gangster Squad. The movie is set in contemporary China and revolves around a drunken doctor who works as a junior official in a government agency. One night, he meets a young woman named Mei Qun and soon begins a romantic relationship. But soon after, he falls in love with Mei Qun and she's the first person to know about his affair with the younger woman. The movie is truly a moving and tragic love story. I have never seen the original Chinese version, so I cannot comment on the original Chinese version, but I do know that this version is very different from the American version, as it is much darker and more somber. The new American version is too funny and childish, but this version is very slow-paced. The original Chinese version is a bit slow-paced and has lots of melodrama and violence. In the American version, it is slow-paced and has a romantic element to it. I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see a movie about a tragic love story, but it is not a typical Kung-Fu movie.

This is by far one of my favorite movies and the best I've seen since Anamorph. The direction is amazing and the acting is fantastic. It has its ups and downs, but what makes it great is that it doesn't ever give up. It moves along at a decent pace and is unpredictable. This movie takes you into a place you don't normally get to go in. The violence is absolutely outstanding and the music is fantastic. This is a movie you can watch over and over again and never get bored of. The plot isn't really original, but the violence and the music make it all better. I love how the bad guys are always backed up by three beautiful women, with their weapon of choice being a guitar. It's just so hard to believe a man with two arms can hold a weapon. I'm also a huge fan of the short scene where the girls play 'The Marvelling of Marco Polo' by Led Zepplin. That is a classic. There are many other great scenes, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. It's very hard to find this movie on DVD or Blu-Ray, so if you see it, make sure you get it. I'm not a huge fan of Chinese or American cinema, but this movie was absolutely beautiful. Watch it with an open mind and you'll have an amazing time.

Gong fu is simply the way to express your inner desires, talents and emotions. This movie shows the dark side of the genre, and really shows what we can do and what we can't. The film is very difficult to watch, because there is a great deal of dialogue in it. The camerawork is excellent, as well as the photography. The story is quite sad, but not depressing. There are some scenes that are very graphic, and some that are very violent. The use of the original Chinese language is one of the great strengths of this film. There are no subtitles and you can just listen to the film as it unfolds. There are many political messages in this film, but there are also some very interesting and funny scenes. I have heard some people say the film is too violent, but this is not the case at all. Some scenes are just meant to shock, and some are not so violent at all. Most of the violence is meant to be funny, and it's even funny at times. This is the first time I have seen a Chinese film where you can laugh at the characters. Some of the scenes have scenes where the audience should have died laughing. If you like martial arts, I suggest you check this film out.

Well I'm new to this site and I want to express my absolute admiration for this movie. I saw it at the premiere and it was beyond amazing. The movie has a very raw and real feel to it. The acting is incredible, the directing and cinematography are top notch, and the story line is superb. A true masterpiece. All the people I know who have seen it have liked it. This movie was definitely a box office hit and I can't wait to see how this film has it's way into the upcoming awards season. I've always loved the book and I hope that the movie version will match up to the book. My only concern is that the DVD version is going to be the same as the original film. I want my own copy so that I can make my own opinion about it.
